Former GOP Representative of Wyoming, Liz Cheney, claimed on Monday that former President Donald Trump will attempt to stay in office longer than four years if he is elected to a second term as president in 2024.

“There’s no question,” Cheney said on NBC’s “TODAY” show with host Savannah Guthrie, regarding her theory that Trump would never step down.
She also spoke about the Tuesday release of her book, “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning.”
Cheney maintained that if Trump won the presidential race in the upcoming election, there was a high likelihood that the United States would become a dictatorship.
“I think it’s a very, very real threat and concern. And I don’t say any of that lightly and frankly, it’s painful for me as someone who has spent her whole life in Republican politics, who grew up as a Republican to watch what’s happening to my party and to watch the extent to which Donald Trump himself has basically determined that the only thing that matters is him, his power, and his success,” she said.
According to Cheney, Americans are “naive” if they believe that the nation can withstand another Trump administration. She mentioned how Republicans Mike Lee of Utah and Josh Hawley of Missouri are among the Senate’s members and that Americans cannot rely on the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson (R-La.), to thwart Trump.
Cheney also said it is “too dangerous to even contemplate going down that path” in response to a question about what would happen if Trump “attempted to rig the election” with Johnson serving as House speaker.
She stated unequivocally that Johnson and the Republicans occupying the majority in the House should not hold that position in 2025, particularly if it is their role to decide the outcome of the presidential election, and that it would be “safer” for the nation if Democrats took over the chamber.
“I think what we have seen is that you cannot count on this group of elected Republicans to uphold their oath,” Cheney continued.
Cheney asserted that she would “never vote for Donald Trump” and “do whatever it takes to make sure that Donald Trump is defeated in 2024.”
When asked if she would be supporting Biden in the election, she quickly reiterated, “I will do whatever it takes.”
“A vote for Donald Trump may mean the last election that you ever get to vote in,” she claimed. “A vote for Donald Trump is a vote against the Constitution.”
The former congresswoman, who is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, stated that she would also wait to make a decision about launching her own White House campaign until after the next several months in order to observe how the presidential contest plays out.
