National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan indicated that President Joe Biden and America’s European allies will soon announce more sanctions on Russia. During a press conference Tuesday, Sullivan noted Biden and European partners will impose new sanctions and re-enforce existing ones during his trip to Europe this week.
The official emphasized the U.S. and allies are seeking to crackdown on efforts to evade sanctions and attempts by other countries to help Russia undermine them. Sullivan said Biden is heading to Europe to re-enforce the unity that has formed in the face of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
“The President is traveling to Europe to ensure we stay united to cement our collective resolve, to send a powerful message that we are prepared and committed to this for as long as it takes, and to advance our response on all three critical fronts that I’ve described: helping the Ukrainian people defend themselves, imposing and increasing costs on Russia and reinforcing the Western alliance,” explained the National Security Adviser.

According to Sullivan, Biden will also be announcing joint action to enhance European energy security and more U.S. contributions to the coordinated humanitarian response.
