“Conservative party members can stand with people who wave swastikas, they can stand with people who wave the confederate flag.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing backlash for accusing a Jewish member of Parliament of “standing with people who wave swastikas” for giving voice to anti-mandate protesters.

In Parliament Wednesday, conservative MP Melissa Lantsman called out Trudeau for fanning the flames of an unjustified national emergency by characterizing the Freedom Convoy as a misogynistic, science-denying, racist-fringe. MP Dane Lloyd rebuked the prime minister for his response to Lantsman.

“I don’t know how any member of the government caucus can stand by this prime minister when he accuses honorable members of the House of standing with the swastika,” said Lloyd. “I’m calling on all members of the liberal caucus to denounce the prime minister. I’ve given him to apologize. He has refused to apologize. Mr. Prime Minister apologize!”

Trudeau ignored Lloyd’s demand for an apology three times, which Lloyd said “speaks volumes.” The heated exchange came after Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act to end trucker protests against his COVID-19 mandates.

Meanwhile, the Freedom Convoy continues to make their voices heard despite harsher police crackdowns.
