Israel’s defense minister has accused Iran of training terrorists to use unmanned aerial vehicles in a plot to export terror across the region. Benny Gantz made the comment on Sunday, claiming Iran is using an airbase to train “terror operatives” from several nations in flying Iranian-made drones.
This comes after an Iranian drone was reportedly used to target an Israeli-managed tanker ship near Oman. Gantz added Iran is also trying to transfer knowledge to allow the manufacturing of drones in the neighboring Gaza Strip.
“In recent years there are trainings taking place in Kashan Base, north of Isfahan, for Iranian forces, as well as for envoys from Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and others,” claimed Gantz. “The wide-range base I am presenting to you today is to be considered as the keystone of the regional Iranian airborne terror export mechanism.”
