Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said he will delay more of Joe Biden’s cabinet nominees as he takes a stand against the Nord Stream 2 project. On Thursday, Cruz revealed plans to hold the confirmations of Brian McKeon and Wendy Sherman in order to pressure the administration into doing “more on Nord Stream 2.”
A bipartisan group of lawmakers has condemned the pipeline’s construction from Russia to Germany, fearing it would give Russia too much power over Western Europe. Cruz said the sanctions passed by Congress were effective and Biden should stick to their previous plans.

“And in the last couple of months, as everyone knows, Putin has begun building the pipeline again,” Cruz said. “And he’s done so because of the mixed signals from the Biden administration, on whether they will follow the law that has been passed overwhelmingly with massive bipartisan support from Congress twice.”
White House officials claimed Biden is against the pipeline’s construction, but has not yet made a formal statement on the matter.
