The FBI opened a probe into millions of robocalls, which have tried to suppress voter turnout on Election Day. On Tuesday, the bureau said unidentified callers told millions of Americans to “stay at home,” while amplifying coronavirus fears.
Some robocalls also conveyed false information about long lines at polling stations. Experts said the calls may be targeting Republican voters who tend to vote in person on Election Day, while many Democrats vote by mail.

The FBI noted robocalling could be a way to wreak havoc as well as chaos in the U.S. and may amount to election-meddling.
