This week, Twitter announced it will be making changes to its policies in light of the Hunter Biden scandal. The platform’s Legal, Policy, Trust and Safety leader confirmed the news in a string of tweets on Thursday.
According to her, Twitter has reflected on the outpouring of feedback they’ve received and have decided to no longer remove hacked content, unless it’s directly shared by hackers or those acting in concert with them.
Over the last 24 hours, we’ve received significant feedback (from critical to supportive) about how we enforced our Hacked Materials Policy yesterday. After reflecting on this feedback, we have decided to make changes to the policy and how we enforce it.

The company will label tweets to provide context instead of blocking links from being shared.
So, what’s changing?
1. We will no longer remove hacked content unless it is directly shared by hackers or those acting in concert with them
2. We will label Tweets to provide context instead of blocking links from being shared on Twitter

In the meantime, the RNC has filed a formal complaint with the FEC, which alleged Twitter’s attempted cover-up of the Hunter Biden story violates federal campaign finance laws. The complaint argued Twitter’s censorship effectively amounts to an “in kind contribution” to the Biden campaign, which is illegal for corporations.
The RNC has called for an immediate investigation. They are hoping the platform gets the “maximum penalty” if it is found in violation of the law.
It also called Twitter a “partisan actor run by partisan Democrats,” who are blatantly taking steps to “shield Biden from negative news coverage.”
“The RNC is calling on the Federal Elections Commission to investigate whether Twitter’s actions amount to an illegal corporate in-kind contribution to the Biden presidential campaign.” –@GOPChairwoman
