The Republican National Committee chairwoman recently sat down to discuss the state of the electorate just six-months away from the general election. Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel weighed in on the potential match-up between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden by saying she isn’t relying on polling this far out.
McDaniel said she’s taking recent polling data giving Biden an edge over President Trump with a grain of salt. She argued they may not be accurate like several polls predicting a Hillary Clinton victory in 2016.
She added that there are several indicators showing American support for the president and cited a relatively high approval rating before taking on the coronavirus pandemic.
“Voters approve of the president’s handling of the economy heading into this pandemic and they recognize that he’s going to be the leader to restore the economy coming out of this,” said McDaniel. “He did it once with seven million new jobs, record low unemployment, and they trust him as the leader who’s going to get these jobs back and get our economy humming again.”

The RNC chairwoman also commented on the sexual assault allegations against Biden by comparing the stark contrast of media attention to accusations made against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018. McDaniel claimed the treatment of the two cases shows the hypocrisy of the media and Democrat Party. She believes the media grilled Kavanaugh yet is ignoring Biden.
She also noted that there was constant wall-to-wall news coverage of Kavanaugh’s accusations and there was even an FBI investigation into the issue. However, she said coverage of Biden’s allegations went dark after gaining traction, leaving the issue alone for five-weeks.
“Nineteen interviews without a single question, he won’t let people go into his records in the University of Delaware,” explained McDaniel. “They’re calling on the DNC to do the investigation..it went from MeToo, MeToo, MeToo, to Move on, Move on, Move on in a nanosecond because he’s a Democrat.”
Meanwhile, Biden’s primary victories in Ohio and Kansas are bringing him closer to clinching the Democrat nomination. Additionally, President Trump’s campaign team is looking to adapt to the slowdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic as officials look to ramp up its digital content.
