A campaign group known as “Abandon Harris” has called for Muslim voters to support the Green Party’s presidential candidate, Jill Stein, abstaining from supporting the Democrats for Kamala Harris’s role in “overseeing” the Israel-Hamas war.

The group released their endorsement announcement on the anniversary of the 2023 October 7th attacks carried out by Hamas, which resulted in around 1,200 dead Israelis and 250 more kidnapped in the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust.
The Abandon Harris group attracts Muslim-Americans and others who have become frustrated with President Joe Biden’s administration’s response to Israel’s retaliation to the horrific attack on October 7th.
“Our movement remains dedicated to ensuring that the American people, especially the Muslim-American community, recognize the responsibility we share in standing up against oppression and using all our power to stop genocide – wherever it may arise. On the precipice of the election, we endorse Jill Stein,” the group’s statement read.
Although Stein does not have a realistic path towards the White House, polling at just 1%, Stein represents more of a protest vote, stealing voters away from the Democrats in extremely tight swing states which has the potential to shift the election.
“We are faced with two opposing forces: one currently involved in actions resulting in immense human suffering, and another showing little willingness to change course. Both seem committed to maintaining these destructive policies,” the statement continued.
Stein, although not appearing in all 50 states, will be on ballots in most swing states, including: Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Although Stein is Jewish herself, she is a firm critic of the Israeli government and denounces its ongoing war in Gaza.
“The Democrats have lost the Muslim American and the Arab American vote. They’re going to be losing enough swing states that they will not win and they cannot win,” Stein stated.
After Biden dropped out, Harris now has to perform the tightrope balancing act, not upsetting the Muslim-American voter base, while also supporting Israel.
“We call on Muslim-Americans and all those who stand firmly against genocide to vote for the Green Party in 2024. The path to justice is long, painful, and difficult, but it is ours to pave and follow,” the Abandon Harris campaign statement concluded.
