The New York Judge overseeing President Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial has delayed his sentencing until November 26th, after the 2024 presidential election.

In a ruling on Friday, Judge Juan Merchan officially postponed the sentencing, which was supposed to occur on September 18th, after a request from Trump’s attorneys.

The 45th president’s attorneys asked for sentencing to be delayed until after the election in order for the president’s team to be in a position to appeal a pending ruling involving presidential immunity.

The lawyers also argued that a September 18th ruling, seven weeks before Election Day, would clearly amount to election interference.
