On Wednesday, Netanyahu made his first public remarks since their deaths.
“Citizens of Israel, challenging days lie ahead. Since the strike in Beirut there are threats sounding from all directions. We are prepared for any scenario and we will stand united and determined against any threat. Israel will exact a heavy price for any aggression against us from any arena,” Netanyahu said in a televised statement.
This comes after Israel claimed responsibility for the death of Fuad Shukr, Hezbollah’s most senior commander. He was blamed for the attack in the Golan Heights that left 12 children dead.
The death of Haniyeh occurred on early Wednesday, according to Iranian media.
Haniyeh, one of the terrorist organization’s senior officials, was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new president when the leader was killed, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced.
