California Governor Gavin Newsom will soon launch a podcast with retired NFL running back Marshawn Lynch and his agent Doug Hendrickson, according to iHeartMedia, who announced the news on Wednesday.

The podcast will be called “Politickin,” and the announcement follows recent calls from the Democrat party for Newsom to replace President Joe Biden on the 2024 election ticket.

According to iHeartMedia, the pairing was “unexpected,” even though Newsom has been close friends with Lynch’s agent for decades.

The podcast promises “the conversations that need to be had,” and will air weekly starting on July 15th. Newsom’s team has worked on the production of the show for over six months, according to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Lynch, who was nicknamed “beast mode,” was remembered during his time on the Seattle Seahawks team for his powerful running style and one famous run in particular that earned him another title “beast quake.”

The former running back was also known for his outlandish press conference before Super Bowl XLIX, where he answered every question with, “I’m just here so I don’t get fined.”

However, since his retirement, Lynch has been raking in major funds as a spokesperson for the Skittles brand and he has also remained in sports media as a football commentator.

This is not the first time Newsom and Lynch have worked together. The democrat governor served as a character witness for Lynch after he was under investigation by the NFL following a DUI arrest in 2013.

Meanwhile, the state of California faces an almost $38 billion-dollar deficit, with many detractors of Newsom putting all the blame on the governor’s purported frivolous “overspending” on homelessness programs, among other things, which have not made much of a positive dent in the Golden State.
