Far-left Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) announced on Monday that she is planning on filing articles of impeachment following the U.S. Supreme Court’s immunity ruling for former President Donald Trump.

“The Supreme Court has become consumed by a corruption crisis beyond its control,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) wrote on X. “Today’s ruling represents an assault on American democracy. It is up to Congress to defend our nation from this authoritarian capture. I intend on filing articles of impeachment upon our return.”

Her announcement comes after the SCOTUS ruled in a 6-3 vote that presidents have absolute immunity for “official acts” taken during their presidency.

The “Squad” member has already been a major critic of the Supreme Court throughout the past few years.

AOC previously proposed the idea of impeaching the Supreme Court Justices who had voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, accusing them of lying about their stances on abortion during their confirmations.

However, impeaching a Supreme Court Justice is nearly unachievable. The only Supreme Court Justice to ever be impeached was Associate Justice Samuel Chase, dating back to 1804, and he was later acquitted in the Senate the following year.

In total, 15 federal judges have been impeached in all of U.S. history.
