Attorney Reveals Evidence Suggesting Suspect’s Family Involvement and Possible Cannibalism – One America News Network

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK - JANUARY 16: Alleged Gilgo serial killer Rex Heuermann appears before Judge Timothy P. Mazzei with his attorney Michael Brown at Suffolk County Court on January 16, 2024 in Riverhead, New York. Heuermann has been indicted in the death of a fourth woman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes. Heuermann's arrest came more than a decade after the disappearance of four women whose bodies were found within a quarter mile of each other wrapped in hunting camouflage burlap along remote Gilgo Beach on Long Island's South Shore. An attorney for victims of the Gilgo Beach Murders called a press conference to reveal new evidence in the case.

Lawyer John Ray held a presentation on Thursday to reveal why he suspects Rex Heuermann’s family was also involved in the string of murders.

“We have been told a story by the Heuermann family,” Ray said.

The attorney accused Heuermann’s 27-year-old daughter, Victoria, of putting on an image for the media.

The evidence surrounded extremely disturbing images she posted or liked online. Ray pointed to how many of the images depicted similar instances that happened in Rex Heuermann’s alleged murders, such as dismemberment or other ways he killed his victims.

He insinuated Victoria’s strange obsession must stem from things she and her family do at home.

“What she has witnessed, what she has perhaps gone beyond witnessing, you draw the inference. I’m not going to feed it to you, you draw the inference,” Ray said.

Ray also noted that the images they could show were limited. “We found that it appears that she has erased all of her sites that she has, all of her social media,” Ray said. “She just missed these ones.”

The alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer was charged for the 2003 killing of Jessica Taylor and 1993 murder of Sandra Costilla last week, his fifth and sixth official murders.

Authorities believe Heuermann to be responsible for over a dozen others.

Ray also suggested cannibalism may have come into play in some of the murders.

“There are other pictures in there that are so atrocious we didn’t even put them up, worse than what you see, of people eating human flesh,” Ray said.

“This appears to be the remains of a human who is half-eaten,” said Ray.

Heuermann’s estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce shortly after his 2023 arrest, but has said she’s giving him “benefit of the doubt.”

Ellerup has also deleted her social media accounts.

Ray alleges Victoria was “brought up in this sickness.”

“When you take all of these things collectively, are you going to be able to reasonably say who knows if the mother really knew what was happening in the house? Who knows if Mr. Heuermann knew what was going on with his daughter?” he said.

“These people are in our society. They’re cannibals. They’re monsters. They’re human devils. They’re evil. The Heuermann’s are part of that patch.”

Ray said he won’t stop seeking justice for the victims and their families.
