The Bloomberg News/Morning Consult survey released on Wednesday shows the 45th president beating out Biden by 7% in North Carolina (49%-42%) and 5% in Arizona (49%-44%).
Additionally, the former president has the edge in Georgia (47%-44%), Pennsylvania (48%-46%), and Wisconsin (47%-46%). However, the spread in all three states is within the poll’s margin of error.
Meanwhile, the two nominees are tied in Nevada at 47% each, while Biden leads Trump in Michigan by only one percentage point (46%-45%).
The same poll conducted in April had Trump leading Biden by 10 points in the Tarheel State, eight points in Nevada, seven points in Arizona, six points in Georgia, and four points in Wisconsin.
Respondents said that the economy was their number one issue (35%), followed by immigration (14%) and then democracy (10%).
Almost half of participants also said that they are worried violence will break out around the time of the presidential election.
Additionally, close to 51% of respondents in the survey said that the economy was better off under Trump, nearly 36% of voters said it was “better off” under Biden, and almost 13% said it has been “about the same” under both administrations.
The poll, conducted online from May 7th-13th, surveyed 4,962 registered voters in the seven swing states.
Voters will now get to see Biden and Trump go head to head in the upcoming debates. The first one will be aired live on June 27th on CNN, and the second will air on September 10th on ABC.
