School districts across the country have blocked their students from accessing ChatGBT. ChatGBT is an artificial intelligence platform that has the ability to write papers on any topic in seconds at the click of a button.
The platform has caused major debate among many school educators. Some find this type of technology exciting while others fear that it could have a negative impact on students.
Schools in New York banned the site from all school devices and networks.
Schools in the Big Apple have cited that ChatCBT, has “negative impacts on student learning, and concerns regarding the safety and accuracy of content,” adding that “the tool may be able to provide quick and easy answers to questions, [but] does not build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential for academic and lifelong success.”
Districts in Los Angeles and Baltimore have followed in the footsteps of New York school district’s ban. However, districts in Philadelphia and Chicago have yet to ban the program. Schools across the country are debating if the program should be banned.
