Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) was joined by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in introducing a resolution to strip Colorado Republican Lauren Boebert of her committee assignments. The resolution has been signed by other far-left members of the House, hoping to take a third opposition scalp after successfully targeting two previous Republicans for political destruction.

Boebert is facing removal from her committees for a remark made about colleague Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), which the Minnesota Democrat declared was anti-Muslim. While the controversial comment was made weeks ago amid multiple attempts to apologize in order to move forward, Omar seems to be delving deeper into hysteria over it, saying Boebert would get people killed.

“To now explicitly declaring a member of Congress as a terrorist. And the kind of violence that can incite. I mean, if you were at home and you had been hearing that, you would be alarmed,” said Omar.

Omar, however, is no stranger to throwing insults and making jokes at her political opponent’s expense. Following Jan. 6, she said the Republican Party was filled with white supremacist looney tunes.

Even before tensions between parties heavily escalated from the events of that day, Omar was declaring 45th President Trump and his supporters were racist. She said his campaign rallies during the election were no different from rallies held by the KKK.

“To speak about me at every single rally, didn’t really  matter where he was. Sometimes, multiple times in a day as he had held his Klan rallies throughout the country,” Omar said in an interview.

Although Omar has been the most outspoken in saying it’s deadly to make jokes about her while claiming Republicans are Klansmen, she’s not alone. Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D), who has been caught on record branding Trump as a violence supporting racist, says joking about Omar is off limits for good conduct. Additionally, she has cosigned the resolution to remove Boebert from her committee assignments.

“It goes to the fundamental brokenness of the Republican Party today. They do not even have basic decency,” said Jayapal. “They can’t even have a conversation about what is right and wrong.”

The vote to remove Boebert is expected to garner very little Republican support. Only anti-Trump Republicans Liz Cheney (Wyo.) and Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) voted to remove Arizona’s Paul Gosar from his assignments just weeks ago, making the effort basically partisan.

Meanwhile, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) defended Boebert from the onslaught by the media and Democrats, saying that nobody has demanded Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) condemn her members for comments made regarding Republicans. McCarthy has promised to stand by Boebert against any effort by Democrats to remove more of his members from committees.

He said the two currently removed, Gosar and Georgia’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, would be given their assignments again if Republicans retake the majority. As for Democrats, McCarthy said he’d use their own rules against them as he plans to look into stripping radical Democrats from their committees for committing transgressions while serving.
