A suspected serial killer in Missouri has been arrested following a string of murders and shootings.
Authorities reported on Monday, 25-year-old Perez Reed was arrested for allegedly shooting at least six victims in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas back in September. Police suggested the same handgun was used in all six shootings according to the shell casings found at each crime scene.
Four of the victims reportedly died from their wounds, and most of them were women. The timeframe in which the crimes occurred have been narrowed down to a span of two weeks.
Authorities said the victims do not appear to be connected, calling the shootings “random acts.”
Though there obviously remains concern until a suspect(s) is apprehended and charged, we hope this news will help to bring some amount of calm and dispel some of the rumors that are being posted to social media. pic.twitter.com/n7bjwmdvrs

“The Circuit Attorney’s Office has been working closely with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department from the beginning on this investigation. This is a complex, multi-jurisdictional case,” said St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner. “The cases in the city of St. Louis are currently under investigation to ensure the most important goal…that justice is brought to the many victims and their families; and the person responsible is held accountable for these heinous crimes.”
Meanwhile, Reed is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of first-degree assault.
