Family and coworkers are remembering a UPS driver who was killed in a San Diego suburb after a plane crashed into his delivery truck. Steve Krueger, 61, died on Monday after the small plane crashed into his vehicle as he was making deliveries in a residential neighborhood.

UPS confirmed the death of Krueger, saying he worked for the company for over 30 years and was just months away from retirement. UPS also released a statement explaining how Krueger was held in high regard and will be greatly missed.

His brother also spoke out, explaining how he loved his job and always had a positive attitude. “He enjoyed hard work, working with people, he enjoyed his job. He really enjoyed the interactions with customers and people in his route,” said Jeff Krueger.

Steve’s brother also mentioned how he was planning his retirement in October and was excited for what lied ahead. “Plan was to get a fully contained SUV, spend six months traveling through Alaska. Go off the grid. He was really excited to do this, an adventure. He never got to do this.”

Although, he went on to say Steve would want people to think of him in a positive way and remember the good things about him.

The pilot of the plane also died in the wreck and has been identified as a cardiologist who worked in Yuma, Arizona. Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation into the crash.
