A report from New York City’s Department of Investigation found Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio used New York Police Department resources for political purposes. It added de Blasio gave members of his failed presidential campaign rides with his security detail.

Additionally, he reportedly hasn’t reimbursed the city for around $320,000 in expenses related to the security team’s work on his campaign. De Blasio was also found to have misused police resources for personal reasons.

The investigation further found de Blasio used his security detail to help his daughter move and drive his son to school among other destinations across the city.

De Blasio defended his position stating, “I didn’t know anything about any details of my daughter’s move. In fact, she had very few possessions. She was going to just take them in the car that was normally available for the very reasons that we discussed because the NYPD made the decision that any time that she would accept protection is in the public interest.”

The Department of Justice also noted the head of the security detail actively obstructed and sought to prevent the agencies investigation.
