A manhunt has been underway in Houston after a pair of suspects took the life of an off-duty police officer. According to reports, the incident happened early Saturday evening as the New Orleans police officer was visiting the city.
The armed suspects reportedly approached a group of people eating outside and demanded their belongings. One suspect opened fire and hit the officer as well as another individual of the group.
The officer was declared dead at the scene. Houston’s Police Department Chief Troy Finner said the incident made no sense and issued a fiery warning to the suspects.
“We’re better than this,” he asserted. “I’m not going to let by as the chief, and everybody that’s standing with me right now, and let a few little thugs tear down our city.”
The second person shot was reported to be in critical condition. The suspects escaped empty handed in a silver Nissan Altima with paper plates.
