Joe Biden fast-tracked the deportation of some illegal immigrants from the U.S. In a letter on Friday, the Biden administration announced the return of so-called “deportation flights.”

These flights were stopped for a time, but have since restarted reportedly because of the spread of the COVID Delta variant. The flights have been those fast-tracked for deportation outside of the Title 42 public health order.

Title 42, which allows the U.S. to expel migrants without going through the asylum process, was initially expected to expire. That expiration was delayed as the crisis at the border has continued to grow.
