Democrat Washington Gov. Jay Inslee claimed he “won the Super Bowl of the pandemic” after shutting down his state’s economy for more than a year. In a recent interview, Inslee stated he is not willing to reform the emergency powers he received during the pandemic.

During just the first six months of his lockdown mandates, at least 2,500 restaurants were forced to permanently close their doors. However, Inslee said these mandates were a “great success.”

“We have had such tremendous success in our state relative to other states…I’m not sure I want to reform a system that won the Super Bowl,” said Inslee. He then claimed Washington’s mandates have saved tens of thousands of lives.

Meanwhile, recent studies have showed suicide rates and mental health cases for Washingtonians have steeply increased over the last year. Thus, pointing to the harmful effects the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown measures have had on residents.
