Illegal immigrants have been reportedly surging across the southern border as Joe Biden has continuously left holes in the U.S.-Mexico border wall. Prompted by President Trump’s visit last week, concerned citizens in the Rio Grande Valley are calling for the border wall to be completed.

“We’re standing for freedom, we want him to build the wall. We want him to continue to build the wall…and we’re going to stand right here and stand for what we believe in the United States of America,” said Trump supporter, Chelsey Lorgotham.

According to local officials in the border city of Rio Grande City, Texas, migrants are overwhelming the small community. Mayor of Rio Grande City, Joel Villarreal, said in a June interview that ineffective leadership is to blame for the migrant influx.

“We truly have not had a true comprehensive immigration plan or reform. We haven’t had it,” stressed the mayor. “Whether it’s Republicans in power or Democrats in power, that has not occurred.”

The Rio Grande Valley is particularly susceptible to illegal border crossings due to open gaps in the border wall. During his recent visit to the southern border, President Trump slammed Biden for not continuing to build the border wall.

Mayor Villarreal said it’s time for Americans to finally address the immigration issue and stop “kicking the can down the road.”
