At least three people have been shot in a South Carolina neighborhood, including a deputy. Spartanburg police said the male suspect first shot two County Water employees who were working on a sewer pipeline.
The water employees were rushed to a nearby hospital and are reportedly in stable condition. When officers arrived on scene, a shootout with the suspect ensued. One deputy was shot in the arm, however his injuries are not life-threatening.
Today’s events have certainly been difficult for our Spartanburg Water family. We are thankful that both of our employees are in good condition and their gunshot injuries were not life-threatening.

The male suspect then barricaded himself inside the home. Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright confirmed the situation at the house was over as of 5:30 p.m. The suspect’s condition is unknown at this time and it is unclear if there are additional victims. A motive has not yet been determined.
“There’s nothing they could’ve done to cause this or make somebody do this,” said Wright.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating the case.
