Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) unveiled a plan to fund border wall construction and save money in the process. The Texas lawmaker introduced a budget amendment that would cut about $5.7 billion dollars in wasteful spending off the Democrat-proposed transportation bill.

The Texas Republican said this money would be transferred to the border wall fund overseen by the U.S. treasury. House Democrats earmarked those funds for their partisan projects such as electric vehicle chargers in California. Roy insisted the funds would be better spent on ending the Biden border crisis.

Roy argued the Biden administration has allowed for the cartels to obtain operational control over the southern border. He slammed Kamala Harris for her failures to visit the epicenter of the crisis and meet with officials in Texas to understand the dire situation firsthand.

The Texas lawmaker went on to mention the major lack in funding for Border Patrol and ICE. He demanded taxpayer dollars be redirected to address the border crisis.
