Sen. Lankford slams Joe Biden on cybersecurity

Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) slammed Joe Biden for the way he handled cybersecurity with Russia. In an interview on Thursday, Lankford called out Biden for essentially divulging locations in the U.S. that are vulnerable to attack.

Biden met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva on Wednesday, where they discussed cybersecurity and the recent ransomware attacks on U.S. pipelines. After the meeting, Biden told reporters he made it clear to the Russian president what areas of the U.S. is off limits.

Lankford argued that Biden fell short in his discussion with Putin on cyberattacks.

“The stunning moment for me was actually a cybersecurity moment where Biden said I brought him a list of 16 areas in the United States that he can’t attack with cybersecurity,” he expressed. “I think he should have brought a map of the United States and just laid that out and said, here is everything you can’t attack.”

Lankford went on to say the U.S. must push back hard against Russia in always holding them accountable, but Biden should never hand them a “do-not-touch” list. Biden did not reveal which entities were included in the list he gave to Putin.
