Two adults and two children were injured from a shooting outside a Cincinnati marketplace. Reports have announced the shooting happened on Saturday evening after multiple people reportedly opened fire.
Police reported multiple weapons appeared to have been used based on the shell casings left at the scene. At least two people were seen fleeing from the scene on foot, but there is a possibility more individuals could have been involved in the shooting.
The adults suffered non-life threatening injuries, but the children were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Lt. Col. Mike John of the Cincinnati Police Department confirmed the ages of the two children are 6 and 8 years old.
“Anytime you have somebody struck with gunfire at that age, it’s gonna be critical,” he explained. “Specifically the 8-year-old is in very, very bad shape.”
Residents claim city leaders are nowhere to be found and have failed to provide the community with the help they need. Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley released a statement regarding the shooting and reported the CPD were following strong leads to catch the shooters.
Officials have asked residents to come forward with any relative information as the incident remains under investigation.
