It has been reported that a group of children stole the car of an Atlanta City Councilman who voted to defund the police last year.

On Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed several children jumped into Councilman Antonio Brown’s vehicle and drove away. At the time of the crime, Brown was only a few feet away talking to a constituent.

Brown tried to stop the car and was dragged half a block before letting go.

“These kids were in my opinion somewhere between 7- and 11-years-old. So you don’t immediately think, ‘Oh, these kids are going to steal my car,’” Brown said.

He attempted to defend his stance on law enforcement, stating there is no amount of officers that could have stopped the theft from happening. The councilman said he does not plan to press criminal charges against the children. As of now, Brown’s car has not been found.
