The Biden administration has faced scrutiny for their apparent lack of transparency.
On Tuesday, 12 Republican lawmakers were denied access to the El Paso Intelligence Center during their border visit. The GOP members have repeatedly made attempts to visit the facility after the DEA released a statement warning the uptick of drug smugglers illegally crossing the border will likely get worse.
Lawmakers are struggling to gain insight on the drug cartel crisis and argue the Biden administration is preventing them to do so. They argue this interference violates their obligation to ensure that public funds are utilized within these facilities to effectively manage the crisis.
Rep. Mike Garcia (R-Calif.) said the GOP demands to learn about the intelligence operation’s strategy to counter drug cartels and illegal immigrants. He argued that Biden has prioritized the welfare of illegal immigrants over the safety of the American people.
Unlike our President and Vice President, I’ve come down to the southern border to see the crisis for myself. What I saw was alarming and reaffirmed that this national security and humanitarian crisis is one of the worst our nation has ever seen. We must secure the border. pic.twitter.com/rcuCb2RDOK

Garcia went on to add Biden’s lack of transparency suggests that “our open borders are a lot more serious than the average American understands right now.”
