Photos taken during Joe Biden’s first formal press conference revealed a pile of papers, including photos and names of reporters. This has called into question the “transparency” that was promised ahead his public address.
Following his short comments to reporters Thursday, Biden took questions from the small group in the room while referring to note cards with prepared statistics and talking points. He also appeared to have been given a list of reporters and their photos in order to know who to address with numbers circled next to several journalists’ names.
Joe Biden had a cheat sheet with the names and faces marked of which journalists to call on, and he knew EXACTLY what questions would be asked of him.
That was not a press conference—that was a play put on by bad faith actors in a pseudo-democracy. pic.twitter.com/ee56Xcg63M

Despite having 65 days to prepare for the conference and the so-called “cheat sheet” from his staff, Biden still fumbled through the briefing. Even with the notes and photos, he appeared to struggle with straight answers and transparency.
It’s unclear if Biden will be made more available to the press moving forward. In the meantime, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki will hold daily briefings.
