Joe Biden now appears to have lied to the press about the effectiveness of Trump-era border policies, after a new report said he has been using them to expel migrants in recent weeks.

“First of all, all the policies that were underway were not helping at all,” Biden stated. “Did not slow up the amount of immigration, and there’s many people coming.”

On Friday, CNN reported that the Biden administration used a Trump-era health order to send back more than half of the migrants apprehended at the southern border. The data showed that in the first three weeks of March, of the over 100,000 migrants the border patrol came across, more than 60,000 were expelled using President Trump’s policies.

Biden also apparently lied when he said the vast majority of migrant families coming to the border were not being expelled.

“We’re sending back the vast majority of the families that are coming. We’re trying to work out now, with Mexico, their willingness to take more of those families back. But we, that’s what’s happening,” Biden said. “They’re not getting across the border and those who are coming across the border, who are unaccompanied children, we’re moving rapidly to try to put in place what was dismantled, as I said.”

The data contradicted Biden’s remarks to the press. It showed 21,000 illegal immigrant families were processed and allowed to stay in the U.S., but were not given court dates, making it harder to track them.
