Attorney Michael van der Veen was targeted by vandals over his defense of President Trump in the impeachment trial. Over the weekend, the word “traitor” was spray painted on the driveway outside Van der Veen’s Pennsylvania home

A group of protesters also gathered outside the attorney’s Philadelphia law office, calling him a fascist. Van der Veen said his family, business and law firm are under siege right now, adding he has received around 100 death threats.

While no arrests have been made in relation to the incident at his home, the attacks have prompted him to take action to ensure the safety of his family. Police are increasing their presence around his neighborhood and he has reportedly hired private security.

This all followed a recent interview in which Van der Veen vigorously called out the mainstream media over it’s coverage of the trial.

Van der Veen refuted an attempt by a CBS anchor to downplay the significance of Democrat impeachment managers selectively editing evidence for the Senate trial. He also contended the mainstream media is actively attempting to sow division among the American people.

“The media has to start telling the right story in this country. The media is trying to divide this country. You are bloodthirsty for ratings!” Van der Veen exclaimed. “I can’t believe that you would ask me a question indicating that it’s alright just to doctor a little bit of evidence. There’s more stuff that we uncovered that they doctored to be frank with you, and perhaps that will come out one day, but we won this case.”

Van der Veen said the conduct of Democrat impeachment managers was inexcusable and the media must stop siding with them.

In the meantime, others have voiced their concerns over the attacks, including Jenna Ellis who previously worked on the Trump legal team. She said, “Trump lawyers, including myself, continue to experience threats, attacks, and hate just because of our work.”

Ellis went on to call it “unconscionable.”
