President Trump said the U.S. doesn’t want lockdowns, emphasizing the cure can’t be worse than the problem itself.

In a tweet on Saturday, the President slammed coronavirus lockdowns. He noted they’ve cost lives and hundreds of thousands of jobs each day.

President Trump has repeatedly called for political leaders to avoid lockdowns and to instead let Americans make decisions for themselves.

The President made the remarks in response to U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who announced his decision on Saturday to put areas of the country into a “tier four” lockdown.

“That means residents in those areas must stay at home, apart from limited exemptions set out in law,” Johnson stated. “Non-essential retail, indoor gyms and leisure facilities and personal care services must close.”

The new restrictions will affect parts of London in addition to the southeast and the east of England, which are all currently in “tier three.”

The changes will take effect on Monday.
