Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said Pfizer is very much a part of ‘Operation Warp Speed.’

During an interview on Tuesday, Azar refuted claims from the biomedical giant after the company attempted to distance themselves from the Trump administration’s coronavirus vaccine operation.

Azar discussed how the Trump administration has been vital in Pfizer’s vaccine development.

“We assisted them with ingredients, we’re assisting them with distributions, syringes, needles, dry ice for shipment and distribution planning,” Azar noted. “Oh no, they’re very much a part of Operation Warp Speed.”

Pfizer later corrected the statement and said while they never took money from the U.S. government for research, they did agree to be a potential supplier for a COVID-19 vaccine.
