This week, First Lady Melania Trump highlighted a New Hampshire hospital’s efforts to give newborn babies a chance at life.
She and National Drug Control Policy Director Jim Carroll participated in a roundtable event at Concord Hospital.

While visiting the hospital, she highlighted doctors’ efforts to treat infants who suffer from neonatal abstinence syndrome. The sickness stems from a child’s exposure to drugs in the womb.
“Sadly, as we see today, there are also pregnant mothers who are struggling to escape the grip of addiction, as well as innocent newborn babies impacted by drug exposure,” stated the First Lady. “While I have seen the sadness of addiction, I have also seen the power communities have when they come together, much like what is seen at this hospital.”
Melania Trump’s visit is meant to honor National Recovery Month.
