The Assistant Secretary for Health recently claimed the U.S. is not flattening the COVID-19 curve. On Thursday, Brett Giroir announced coronavirus cases are rising in many states due to a lack of social distancing and insufficient use of face masks.
“We are not flattening the curve right now,” he said. “The curve is still going up.”
However, the secretary has admitted the recent increase in COVID testing could have revealed more cases.
“There is no question that the more testing you get, the more you will uncover. But we do believe this is a real increase in cases, because of the percent positivities are going up. So this is real increases in cases.” – Brett Giroir, Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services
He failed to mention that around 1.2 million Americans have recovered from COVID-19, which almost equaled the number of active cases, which stands at 1.5 million.
