On Wednesday, President Trump marked five years since the deadly shooting at a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina. While speaking at the White House, the president reflected on the lives lost that day at the Emanuel Ame Church .
A gunman opened fire on a group of innocent parishioners, who had gathered for bible study in the church. Nine people were killed in the deadly massacre.
President Trump has called it a despicable act of evil.
“Today, we remember this somber day as our hearts still break for the victims and our prayers go with all,” stated the president. “Terrible, terrible day for our country, for the world to witness.”
