White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany went on the defense as the president took heat over his comments about “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough.
While speaking with reporters Tuesday, McEnany echoed President Trump who said he wasn’t the first person to comment on allegations that Scarborough may have had a hand in the death of a former staffer. She pointed out that Scarborough seemed to joke about the allegation during a 2003 appearance on the Don Imus Show.
“The president said this morning that this is not an original ‘Trump though’t and it is not,” stated the press secretary. “In fact, 2003 on Don Imus’ show, it was Don Imus and Joe Scarborough that joked about killing an intern, joked and laughed about it.”
White House Press Sec. McEnany is asked about Trump tweets that allege Scarborough is responsible for the 2001 death of staffer Lori Klausutis:
“This is not an original Trump thought.”

“That was, I’m sure, pretty hurtful to Lori’s family and Joe Scarborough himself brought this up with Don Imus,” she continued. “And Joe Scarborough himself can answer it.”
McEnany also questioned why the media wasn’t outraged after “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski claimed the president was responsible for 100,000 deaths in a reference to the coronavirus death toll.
