New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) recently proposed an idea meant to make it easier for Americans to return to work.
During his daily briefing Sunday, the Democrat gvoernor proposed the “Americans First” law by suggesting companies rehire at least the same number of employees they had pre-pandemic.
Cuomo said lawmakers in Washington should consider passing new protections for Americans who were fired or furloughed due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to the governor, if companies do not hire enough workers then they should be required to return federal funding.
“We’re not going to subsidize you to lay off workers,” he stated. “If you can lay off workers and you’re saving money by laying off workers, you don’t need the American taxpayer to subsidize you.”
Corporations that lay off workers because of COVID shouldn’t be getting government money for COVID.
If they don’t rehire the workers they laid off, they should have to return the money.
