California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced new guidelines for ‘phase two’ of his plan to reopen some businesses across the state. On Thursday, Newsom said low-risk businesses, such as book, music, clothing and sports stores, will be among the establishments opening their doors on Friday.
However, only curbside pickup will be available.
NEW: Today CA released guidance for some lower risk industries to begin re-opening.
Starting TOMORROW places like:
-clothing stores
-bookstores
-florists
-sporting goodsAlong with manufacturing and logistics associated can start to re-open.

Newsom has said these measures are meant to keep people safe and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. He noted if there is progress toward flattening the curve, a ‘phase three’ may be on the horizon.

The governor also addressed the state’s projected budget shortfall, which could cost billions of dollars.
“My optimism is conditioned on this: more federal support. End of the day, with this happening in such a short period of time. We’re seeing economic numbers, the unemployment numbers now: 4.3 million people, just since March 12th, have filed for unemployment insurance. $11.9 billion of unemployment claims have been processed, checks have been cut, just since March 15th.”

He went on to say certain counties will be able to apply to lift their restrictions on a case by case basis. However, they will need to prove they have sufficient hospital beds, as well as the capability to conducting sufficient testing and contact tracing.
