Newport Beach Mayor Matt O’Neill ripped California Governor Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary policies after 21 illegal immigrants were caught arriving on the shores of his town on Thursday.

The illegal convoy reportedly included a Uzbek national, a Russian, and 18 Mexicans.
“Get your act together,” O’Neill asserted, in a Fox 11 interview. “You cannot continue to treat every city in California like a border city. You cannot put us in this position. We have real problems, we need you to fix them now.”
The latest convoy of migrants was reportedly the third large group to wash on the show of Newport Beach, prompting O’Neill to publicly criticize California’s sanctuary policies.
“There is no way that you intend to protect Uzbeki nationals coming in from our southern border,” O’Neill continued, calling out Newsom (D-Calif.) and other state officials.
“When you have people from Uzbekistan, of all places, coming in through the southern border, something is broken,” he added. “Every city in California now is essentially a border city thanks to SB 54. We’re told our local authorities are prohibited from working with federal authorities from stopping people like this.”
Prior to the recent migrant convoy, Fox 11, featured similar footage from May depicting over 20 migrants washing ashore in Newport Harbor.
“We come across boats on a regular basis,” stated U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Levi Read. “Not all the time do they have that many people on it though.”
The recently arrived migrants were reportedly apprehended and were transferred to the custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
