Nikki Haley is releasing the delegates she won during this year’s Republican primary so that they can be available to support Donald Trump at next week’s Republican National Convention (RNC), a move that helps the former president receive even more GOP support.

According to Haley’s former campaign, she opted to release her 97 delegates that she won across a dozen primaries and caucuses earlier this year.
In a statement, the former United Nations ambassador called for party unity at the upcoming (RNC) in Milwaukee. Haley also said that President Joe Biden is “not competent to serve a second term” and asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris “would be a disaster for America.”
“We need a president who will hold our enemies to account, secure our border, cut our debt, and get our economy back on track,” Haley said. “I encourage my delegates to support Donald Trump next week in Milwaukee.”
However, Haley herself will not be in Milwaukee next week, according to spokesperson Chaney Denton.
“She was not invited, and she’s fine with that,” Denton said. “Trump deserves the convention he wants. She’s made it clear she’s voting for him and wishes him the best.”
During her campaign, Haley accused Trump of prompting chaos and disregarding the importance of alliances with other nations abroad.
In response, the former president called her a “Birdbrain,” though he stopped those attacks after securing enough delegates in March to become the presumptive Republican nominee.
Meanwhile, Trump’s 2024 campaign has not commented on Haley’s latest move.
Biden’s campaign has been working to win over her supporters, which they view as swing voters. Haley also said in May that she would be voting for the 45th president and would leave it up to him to win over her supporters.
