Hurricane Ian has made landfall in South Carolina as a Category One storm.

On Friday, Ian made landfall near Georgetown, South Carolina. Winds of up to 85-miles-per hour have been reported.

This comes after the hurricane left a path of destruction and death in Florida after it made landfall earlier this week. At least 21 fatalities have been reported in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) announced that there have been over 700 rescues.

As of Friday morning, more than 1.9 million Floridians are without power and multiple neighborhoods have been left in shambles. All of Florida remains under a state of emergency amid catastrophic floods and life-threatening storm surges.

Forecasters are predicting more flooding and storm surges in areas hit by Ian. Authorities in South Carolina are warning residents to prepare for the impact.
