The White House coronavirus coordinator was recently grilled over Joe Biden’s continued use of face masks. The discussion set off during a Sunday interview when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Jeff Zients why Biden keeps wearing face coverings even though he’s vaccinated.
The question came after the CDC said Americans do not have to wear face coverings at indoor gatherings if everyone present has been vaccinated.
“Well, the CDC has given guidance that when you’re with family and friends that are vaccinated in small groups, you don’t need a mask,” Zients stated.
Rates of #COVID19 are decreasing, but cases remain high in parts of the U.S. The 7-day average of new daily cases decreased 11.9% from the previous week. Get vaccinated. If you’re not fully vaccinated, continue practicing healthy habits. More: https://t.co/gp6X4zTnBT. pic.twitter.com/fEsElvHZJf

Critics quickly pointed out that White House coordinator side-stepped the question. Zients said the CDC guidance will allow vaccinated people “more and more privileges to take off the mask.”
