First Lady Jill Biden surprisingly came out and expressed that the decision of her husband, President Joe Biden, to drop out of his re-election campaign was “the right call.”

Jill sat down with ABC News’ Deborah Roberts on Monday, telling the journalist that “it’s time for something new,” in terms of presidential material.
“I’ve had such a great four years,” Jill stated. “I mean really it has been the honor of our lives. It’ll be tough to maybe step away from it, but we’re starting a new chapter of our lives. A new journey.”
“We’ve been in politics 50 years. I think we’re ready for the new journey,” she added.
President Biden made the decision to drop out at the end of July following an embarrassing debate performance against former President Donald Trump in June.
Biden’s disastrous performance was so dire that it essentially unified Democrats in calling for the current president to forgo re-election efforts, which Biden initially refused before finally succumbing to pressure from Democrat Party leaders. However, he has since denied that any official from his party was directly responsible for his choice to step down.
Immediately after the debate, Jill Biden went on stage and told her husband, “Joe, you did such a great job! You answered every question, you knew all the facts!” before later admitting that it wasn’t her husband’s finest moment. However, she shook it off and asserted that their family wouldn’t “let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president.”
During Monday’s interview, Jill also expressed excitement and confidence in Kamala Harris winning the election.
“There’s a lot of energy out there,” she declared. “Kamala Harris is going to win this, and it’s going to be just another chapter for the White House.”
Additionally, Jill revealed in the discussion that the White House has undergone a revamp for visitors looking for a tour, adding immersive and interactive displays, as well as 3D renderings.
“Being an educator, I walked these halls every day, and I thought to myself, ‘You know, we need something that’s more vibrant and comes alive.’ And, you know, just so much more dynamic,” Jill stated.
The transformation reportedly has been in the works for two years, offering the public a more “engaging tour” through the usage of digital touch displays, touchable artifacts, and more access to certain rooms.
“And this changes every couple seconds so that you can see all the renovations. And it lights up,” the first lady continued. “So for instance – you may not have known that the White House didn’t always have water or electricity. So this tells you, you know, each thing, when it was added, who added it, the timeline. And it makes it much more interesting.”
The interview follows the first lady’s campaign efforts on behalf of Harris, hitting key swing states, like Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
