In a new video that she shared on social media on Wednesday to promote her new book, former First Lady Melania Trump defended her past professional work as a high-end nude model.

“Why do I stand proudly behind my nude modeling work? The more pressing question is: Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photo shoot?” she said in the video posted on X (Twitter).
“Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body? Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration,” she continued.
“We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self expression,” Mrs. Trump concluded.
When asked if the old photos had attracted attention recently or what kind of media scrutiny Melania Trump was alluding to, a representative for the former first lady did not immediately answer.
However, left-wing online users have continuously demeaned the former first lady for her previous career as a model since at least 2016, when GOP newcomer Donald Trump beat Democrat contender Hillary Clinton in an upset that shocked Democrats throughout the U.S.
According to Skyhorse Publishing, the former first lady’s upcoming memoir, “Melania,” will be available on bookstore shelves in October.
“A powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has carved her own path, overcome adversity, and defined personal excellence,” is one of the book’s descriptions.
During Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Melania Trump’s former nude modeling work came to light when the New York Post released a number of professional photographs of Melania baring skin that were taken in 1996 and featured in a now-defunct French men’s magazine. “The Ogle Office” was the headline on the cover, which is coincidental as she had not even met Trump by then.
The New York Post previously claimed that the photos were taken in 1995, but later retracted that information and corrected it to 1996, appearing in the magazine in 1997, Politico reported.
“[Photographer] Alé de Basseville told the Post on Wednesday that he misspoke, and the photo session actually took place in 1996 in Manhattan, and appeared in a 1997 issue of the magazine,” said a spokeswoman for the New York Post, according to Politico.
Donald Trump, being already familiar with the New York fashion scene and world of high-end modeling, said that at that particular time “pictures like this are very fashionable and common” and explained how the photos were taken before the two ever met.
During that campaign, a 2000 British GQ cover also featured a slightly naked model photograph of Melania Trump on Trump’s jet, which made a comeback in the press.
According to The Washington Post, the former first lady obtained permanent residency in the U.S. a year after the publication of the photo shoot, and she legally obtained a green card through the competitive EB-1 program.
In 2005, the first lady and the former GOP president tied the knot.
After Trump was targeted in the first murder attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania in July, she wrote a letter expressing her gratitude to law enforcement and Secret Service agents for defending him and expressing concern for all “fellow Americans” to “unite” together in the wake of the assassination attempt.
Additionally, the former first lady released a number of social media videos earlier this month, giving the impression that she was edging closer to the political limelight in the final few months of the 2024 presidential campaign. In one video, she also demanded more insight into how the first assassination attempt was able to occur so easily, an understandable question that any wife would have.
Meanwhile, Democrat political commentators like Don Lemon, who was fired from CNN in 2023, mocked and criticized the former first lady by posting a reaction video where he rolled his eyes and made strange facial expressions at her video-recorded statements. However, after much backlash and responses regarding how “insensitive and cold” he came off to the public, he deleted the video soon after from X and TikTok.
Many notable conservative women on social media platforms also accused Lemon of acting like a “stereotypically misogynistic gay man” by mocking a heartbroken woman who feared for her husband’s life.
Lemon was also fired from CNN after being accused of both sexism and ageism against more than ten female employees at the liberal news network.
The former first lady continues to focus on raising her and Trump’s son, Barron, and is supportive of Trump’s political aspirations and reelection, according to close allies and Trump campaign advisers.
