Authorities at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office stated that they “anticipate” Timberlake will enter a guilty plea on Friday during a court hearing in Sag Harbor.
According to reports, a judge has signed off on a deal taking the DWI charge off the table, that is, as long as Timberlake agrees to take the deal.
TMZ reported that Timberlake and prosecutors reportedly reached an agreement to reduce his original charge of driving while intoxicated to “driving while ability impaired.” Timberlake will now most likely only face a $300 to $500 fine for the charge.
On June 18th, Timberlake was pulled over and arrested after he “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
The complaint stated that the music star had “bloodshot and glossy” eyes, a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath” and he was “unable to divide attention” as well as “slowed speech” and was “unsteady afoot.”
Documents stated that Timberlake told the arresting officer that he “only had one martini” and was following some friends home.
According to court papers, after being arrested, he refused a breathalyzer test.
Timberlake had been originally charged with one count of driving while intoxicated along with citations related to a for failure to keep right and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Meanwhile, the pop star’s attorney, Ed Burke Jr., claimed that police made “significant errors” during the his June arrest.
“The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI,” Burke said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The police made a number of very significant errors in this case. In court today, you heard the district attorney try to fix one of those errors. But that’s just one, and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes, and this is just one of those instances.”
Timberlake is set to return to his Forget Tomorrow World Tour on September 28th in Newark, New Jersey. He will then travel to Canada, New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Orlando and other cities before taking his tour internationally in 2025 to places like Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Denmark.
