The Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas suggested on Monday that the six hostages recently found dead were deliberately executed because they were about to be rescued by Israeli forces, claiming that others could suffer the same fate as well if the IDF does not halt its efforts.

“We say to everyone clearly that after the Nuseirat incident, new instructions were issued to the Mujahideen assigned to guard the prisoners regarding dealing with them if the occupation army approached their place of detention,” Hamas spokesperson Abu Ubaida said in a Monday statement, according to Axios.

Ubaida, who speaks for Hamas’ military branch, known as the Al-Qassam Brigades, seemed to be referring to the June operation by Israel in which five Israeli hostages were rescued from Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp.

One abductee named Noa Argamani was among those rescued, whose kidnapping by Hamas was captured in images that came to symbolize the atrocities of October 7th.

However, the latest group of Israeli hostages discovered by the IDF suffered a tragic fate.

Almog Sarusi, 27, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lobanov, 32, Carmel Gat, 40, and US-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, were all found dead by IDF troops on Saturday.

Reports suggested that the hostages were shot at point-blank range multiple times two to three days before they were found, after enduring 11 months of captivity, Israeli officials said. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said on Monday that the hostages had been shot in the back of the head.

Officials believe that the victims were killed when the IDF “got too close” to a Hamas hideout region. Hamas’ most recent statement appears to confirm the same sentiments from Israeli officials.

“Netanyahu killed the six prisoners and he is determined to kill the remaining one. The Israelis should choose between Netanyahu or the [original ceasefire] deal,” read a statement from Sami Abu Zuhri, a senior official with Hamas.

Along with the statement by Hamas, the terrorist group shared a propaganda illustration that depicted a captive Israeli hostage with a terrorist holding a firearm behind them. “The image was accompanied by both Hebrew and Arabic captions, which read: ‘Military pressure = death and failure. Exchange deal = Freedom and life,’” The Times of Israel reported.

As a result, the deaths have triggered even more protests across the Jewish State, with many demonstrators blaming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claiming that he is not doing enough to help the hostages get out safely.

Meanwhile, Israel estimates that 102 hostages are still being held by the terrorist group.
