“Hurricane Debby blew 25 packages of cocaine (70 lbs.) onto a beach in the Florida Keys,” stated U.S. Border Patrol acting chief patrol agent Samuel Briggs II.
Beachgoers discovered the packages and alerted authorities, which were marked with identical red V shaped logos.
Tropical storms and hurricanes have been known to wash illicit street drugs ashore from South America, although it is rare for the drugs to wash up further north in Nassau County, where the recent discovery was made.
Meanwhile, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) has declared a state of emergency for The Sunshine State as over 274,000 households have lost power.
